Ramsdale has been unbelievable this season

There was one player who left the pitch after the Southampton game that didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Aaron Ramsdale had again proved that he is a superb keeper and despite seeing more than 60 goals go past his this season, he has kept the number of goals down in what is a struggling team.

Ramsdale has done his best this season.

Considering that this is Ramsdale's first season in the Premier League, it is incredible how well he has played. He is more like a senior player in the way he carries himself and responds to adversity. Bournemouth fans were fearing the worst on the hour when Danny Ings was given a penalty to take. Ramsdale was sensational though. The stop in Ing's run didn't trigger Ramsdale to move, and to reach the shot to his left was pretty miraculous.

It should have inspired the players to go and fight even harder to get the goal to stop Southampton winning the game. I do feel that if the Bournemouth crowd had been in the ground, the save would have had a bigger impact on how the rest of the half played out. Bournemouth just couldn't get the upper hand on Southampton. It probably says something about the way Southampton have been playing - hat's off to them, they turned their season around.

Aaron has made a huge number of saves, but he can't save Bournemouth's season by himself. It needs a better defence in front of him and better goal scorers up front. He may be lucky and get that against Everton, but I'm not counting on it. Whatever happens, this season has seen the emergence of Aaron Ramsdale as a great keeper, and in a season with very few positives, it is good that Bournemouth have at least one player who we know we have to try and hold on to for next season.
