Dare AFCB snatch 7th place?

I was reading a news article by the Guardian this week by Matin Laurence about Bournemouth going from relegation candidates to European football hopefuls. He rightly questions whether AFCB are headed on a path to Europe after recent results, but I am more concerned in whether it would be helpful or a hinderance to achieve such a finish as seventh place at such an early stage in AFCB's development?
AFCB are working hard to try and achieve their highest ever finish.
I guess the Cherries would try and deal with whatever comes their way, but getting a European spot would be a stretch on resources. The players would no doubt be good enough if they achieved this but there would need to be a much bigger squad to play in another competition and whether the funds would be made available for these extra players when AFCB are also trying to develop their training facilities and plan a new stadium is going to be a difficult balancing act. The main objective must be just to stay in the Premier League and if that means Europe is an adventure but not a priority then perhaps that is how AFCB should look at it if it did happen.

To achieve seventh Bournemouth still have plenty of work to do. Wouldn't it be some climax to the season though if Bournemouth and Burnley were fighting after that position on the very last day of the season at Turf Moor? I imagine it could be a sell out game.

AFCB have done tremendously well in their three seasons on the budget they have and that can't be denied, but to reach the next level significant investment is still required in the infrastructure of the club and perhaps like Burnley AFCB are just enjoying the moment and have to see where that takes them. Europe is another page that may one day be reached by AFCB but I am enjoying the pages that Eddie Howe and the players are turning over in the Premier League at the moment, so let's not put any pressure on them chasing Europe just yet when relegation is still not completely out of the question.

  1. if we can win the next two games, it will be very interesting to see how high we can finish :-)

lose them however..... and this season will have a very different end!

    exciting times

  2. Yes, real risk-reward stuff. Can this team as constituted withstand the rigors and risks of Europe without jeopardizing its PL status? On the other hand, what a milestone for Boscombe historians. And perhaps an opportunity never to be repeated? Carpe Diem. (But not to worry if it doesn't happen) Toronto John.
