Huddersfield storm past the Cherries 4-1

Match Report
Huddersfield  4 V 1 AFCB
11 February 2018
Attendance: 23, 823 (incl 1208 AFCB fans)
Bournemouth find the early start not to their liking at the John Smith stadium.
This was a day when Huddersfield knew they had to win and they were fully up for the game. Bournemouth were as off colour as the weather and didn't get any kind of rhythm going at all. There was some brief hope when Junior Stanislas equalised to Pritchard's early strike, but by half time the Cherries had fallen foul of their old set-piece failures with a Mounie header that had given Huddersfield the lead again. The second half was worse still with Mounie extending the lead before an added time penalty completed one of Bournemouth's heaviest defeats of the season.

Bournemouth announced an unchanged team with Steve Cook shaking off his thing injury to make the starting line up. That meant that Josh King was left on the bench along with Lys Mousset the match winner against Stoke City, while Adam Smith made it back to teh bench after his recent injury problems.

Huddersfield made five changes having not picked up a point in 2018 with Scott Malone playing against his former team. Pritchard, Ince, Mounie and Mooy were also fast-tracked into the team.

Match Report
Bournemouth had the kick-off and started in their black and green third kit. Ibe finds Stanislas all alone in the left and immediately wins an AFCB corner. Ibe then wins another corner, this one is punched away.

God start from the Cherries. Van La Para gets past Francis on the left. Daniels then sets Stanislas in a race but he just loses out to Hadergjonaj. Schindler went over the top of Ibe and will need a breather.

Ince fouls Daniels to get AFCB back on the front foot. Steve Mounie drifts away from Francis on the right and pulls the ball back for Alex Pritchard and its 1-0 to Huddersfield on seven minutes. Francis was completely out paced! Begovic beaten at his near post. Poor defending from Bournemouth, Steve Cook was also drawn to the ball which left Pritchard unmarked.

Ibe and Fraser are down but soon get up. Huddersfield are looking confident now. It's Bournemouth under pressure. Aké wins a free kick. Fraser down the right and he picks out Stanislas who cuts inside and Stanislas slips it into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1 on 14 minutes. Stanislas made that look ridiculously easy.

Lewis Cook is getting his challenges in. Ibe and Stanislas try and work something. Gosling loses the ball in the middle and gets the first yellow card, pulling Pritchard's arm. The free kick goes into the wall. Steve Cook makes a good block on Malone's cross.

Gosling makes a big tackle and sets Ibe off but Schindler nips in before Wilson. Lewis Cook makes a bad choice but Pritchard runs into Francis. Daniels gets a good tackle in on Hadergjonaj for a Huddersfield corner.

A big cross comes in but Begovic  makes the save from Jorgensen's header.  Wilson just loses out on a corner.

Lewis Cook is pulled up for a foul on Hogg. Looked a fair challenge to me. The free kick comes in and Mounie cores from a header. Francis beaten by the header and Begovic 2-1 and 27 minutes gone.

Jordan Ibe goes for a long shot by the deflection takes the sting off of it. Wilson is away and Fraser has his cross blocked for a corner. Steve Cook just puts it wide off the post!  Great movement from Bournemouth and the training ground move almost came off there.

Hadergjonaj shoots from range and it's deflected for a corner. A one handed punch by Begovic gets it clear. Malone puts in a deep cross but Bournemouth clear. Stanislas on the left loses the ball.

Mooy looks for van La Parra but Begovic gets there first. Stanislas to Fraser and the cross is cut out. Gosling and Ibe is blocked. Mounie hits a shot against Francis.

The rain is pouring down now. Aké gets a headed clearance in. Pritchard is offside. Stanislas almost gets Wilson in. Daniels and Ibe has the ball nicked off him and Stanislas shanks his shot. Steve Cook's long throw is cleared.

Daniels wins a foul against Hadergjonaj. It's a good position. Injury time of two minutes is being played. Gosling won the header but the flag is up. That's half time 2-1.

Huddersfield: possession 56%, shots 7, shots on target 3, corners 2
AFCB: possession 44%, shots 4, shots on target 2, corners 3
The Cherries find themselves 2-1 down at half time.
Second half
The sun is out now and Pritchard smashes a shot past the left post. Bournemouth have switched to a back four. Malone fouls Fraser.  Ince turns Lewis Cook and Mooy shoots wide.

Stanislas to Wilson and it comes off of Jorgensen to the keeper. Scott Malone is subbed for Kongolo on 52 minutes.

Huddersfield are just winning the knock downs in midfield at the moment. Fraser almost gets away in the middle. Fraser now to Ibe and it's a Bournemouth corner. Gosling fouls Mounie.

Francis fouls can Le Parra and gets carded. Josh King is getting ready. Jordan Ibe is subbed and King comes on after 58 minutes. Gosling is lucky not to get a second booking.

Francis gets a good header in and Mooy clips it back in and Ince heads over! King is dispossessed. Lewis Cook cleans up.

Lewis Cook concedes a free kick. Three challenges in a row there from the Bournemouth midfielder. Daniels and  Hogg clash.

Huddersfield sub, Ince goes off and Quaner comes on. Stanislas is replaced by Mousset on 65 minutes.

Steve Cook gives the ball away to van La Parra and Mooy finds Mounie who sticks it home to make it 3-1 on 67 minutes. Terrible by Steve Cook. He'll have nightmares about that.

Pritchard gets a shot off and it bounces away from a goal kick. Mousset now gets a good cross in and wins a corner. Long throw Francis and King can't get hold of it.  Adam Smith replaces Steve Cook on 70 minutes. Mousset is given a yellow card for bouncing the ball in frustration against the ground.

Adam Smith gets away at a barge on van La Parra. Bournemouth have not got into their stride today. Adam Smith and Fraser, but King is offside. Mooy is injured after a tackle from Lewis Cook and he is being stretchered off.

Too many misplaced passes from Bournemouth today. Wilson has hardly been on the ball. Billing comes on for Mooy on 76 minutes.

Begovic comes to take a high ball. Wilson is offside. Gosling and King are working on the left. Mousset swings a cross in. Adam Smith Fraser and Adam Smith has lost it.

Mousset comes forward. Daniels and Fraser. Mousset has a shot blocked. Billing wins the ball off Lewis Cook and blasts a shot over. Adam Smith has his cross cleared.

Akee wins a free kick. Huddersfield break. Lewis Cook clears up. Adam Smith wins a free kick on the right. Wilson hurts his hand as the keeper drops the ball. Bournemouth are offside.

Mousset wins a free kick on half way. Francis wins the header but nothing comes of it. Adam Smith and King gets a corner. Lewis Cook has a shot blocked after Aké won the header.

Six minuted of added time. The keeper kicks the ball against Wilson and its a free kick to Huddersfield. Pritchard has gone down in the box and it's a penalty. Gosling put a hand on him. Van La Parra makes it 4-1 sending Begovic the wrong way.

Summary
Bournemouth were off the pace and had some shoddy defending in this game. Bournemouth were well beaten and didn't cause Huddersfield hardly any problems apart from Junior Stanislas' strike. The midfield looked under powered which will give some hope for Arter and Surman that they might now get back in and at the back there were mistakes by Steve Cook and Simon Francis which were self inflicted errors that Huddersfield took full advantage of. Huddersfield fully deserved the win. Sadly, the unbeaten record did not extend beyond seven and the Cherries have 13 days to get themselves back into shape for the visit of Newcastle Utd. After this performance, there is likely to be plenty of thought by Eddie Howe about how he now lines up for that game.
