"Salute the players.., it's a big point" says Eddie Howe

At first glance it might not seem that great that Bournemouth picked up a point from a home game against Watford. But before the match, AFCB would know that it would be a difficult game and a point would not be undesirable.
It was a performance that deserves a lot of applause.
The heads could have gone down like we perhaps saw against Spurs a few weeks ago, but the players dug deep and found a bit of their quality again to make a priceless comeback. Howe is correct in saying that it could be very important for the team's season. Had they lost this match, it would have been really poor reading and more questions would have been asked about what is going on. Now Howe has earned a breather and a chance to rest a few players for the FA Cup game.

Bournemouth have been on the rack in the past few games. They could easily have been beaten out of sight in the Watford match, but they were defiant and it's that character we haven't seen against the bigger teams. Bournemouth were simply up for the fight on Wednesday night and it was a good job that they were because the games don't come any more physical than they do against Watford.

While the players will have been battered and bruised by the encounter, they will know that many of then will be able to ease themselves back. They deserve a short rest from the intense festive period of games. It's all about recovery now.

With Fraser limping off and Wilson having taken a knock, we can expect that both of these players will not runout against Brighton, while Dan Gosling may also need time to recover having just come back into the team from injury.

Transfer News
Jermain Defoe looks all set to join Rangers on loan, says the Daily Record. Meanwhile, AFCB battle Cardiff City to sign Nathaniel Clyne, reports the Bournemouth Echo.

  1. Apart from recovering from two down, the important thing was dominating much of the game and demonstrating that Bournemouth are one of the better footballing sides outside the elite group.
In the away fixture, everything went right, but it was never really a 4-0 game. These teams are very closely matched.
