Third place up for grabs at St Marys

It is early in the season and the south coast head to head with the Saints has the potential to see the winning side go third in the table, at least for a few hours. Such a sight would have seemed unthinkable to many Bournemouth fans after the start our team has made with a couple of defeats on the record book, but all sides are finding it difficult to get a series of results. A back-to-back win is something that Eddie Howe has a chance to achieve as well as finally removing the unwanted tag of not having managed a Bournemouth win at St Mary's, but how will he try and do it?
Welcome to Bournemouth's first win at St Mary's would be nicer to read!
For me I believe his biggest decision comes in central midfield. I got things very wrong last week, but I hope I am on safer ground this week. Jefferson Lerma is not going to be jet-lagged and will want his place back and Eddie Howe has to choose you'd think between Lewis Cook and Philip Billing for the other place. While Lewis Cook didn't last the full 90 minutes against Everton, his impact was there for all to see and he may well have done enough to dislodge Billing, who has a good start to his Bournemouth career but might find himself taken aside for this one.

He may not be the only change. While Eddie won't want to make too many changes it is going to play on his mind that Ryan Fraser did well when he came on against Everton, and that while King, Solanke and Callum Wilson looked okay, Harry Wilson didn't quite have the same edge. Eddie will be pleased that the defence played better. So there is less need to alter personnel there in my opinion.

This game is a big match for sure. It will be a big boost if the game can be won and to have achieved three wins before the end of September would mean that AFCB were on track to rival their best season in the division. For the fans though, league positions are pleasing when you are above local rivals, and to do that by beating them is even sweeter. To do it at St Mary's though is something that would raise expectations of better things to come. That's surely what we want, but there is probably very little to choose between these sides. Let's hope that luck, VAR and everything else is on AFCB side on tonight.

AFCB possible line-up
AFCB Subs: Boruc, Francis, Mepham, Billing, Surman, Ibe, H Wilson
