Is Howe ready to sign £10m Wolves striker?

Benik Afobe has been making headlines for Wolves with 22 goals in 46 games. He is a powerful striker that has scored goals almost where ever he has played on loan and he has taken to the Championship as well as Callum Wilson did when he first came to AFC Bournemouth. It would appear that Eddie Howe is making preparations to seal the deal that will now bring Benik to the Vitality Stadium with both the Daily Telegraph and BT Sport claiming that the Cherries are closing on on their man.

Such a deal makes far more sense to me than the likes of Jermain Defoe. AFCB want to build a young side with British players to challenge these kind of players to do well in the Premier League. The transfer fees for Championship players are high but a 22 year-old with power and pace and a cool head in front of goal is just the kind of player that will be hungry to impress.

We have seen at first sight how good Afobe is having seen him play against the Cherries back in March 2015 when AFCB won 2-1 at home to set them on their way to the Premier League. The one goal Wolves got on that night was from Benik.

Afobe also has an excellent background having been at Arsenal for most of his early career and he has also been through the England U16-U20 teams. He will also have seen what Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall have done with Callum Wilson since he has been at the club and that must be a huge incentive for Afobe. We may find that news comes through over this weekend that AFCB have found their new front man and if the signing does work out we can certainly assume that Steve Fletcher has been making his was up to the Midlands rather a lot of late.

If AFCB do sign Afobe for a suggested £10m it will also be a new record signing. It would be money well spent if Afobe can help score the goals that AFCB need between now and May to stay up.
