No complaints - Everton were the better side

You can't expect to win every match and the game against Everton in the FA Cup was just one that never really caught alight for the Cherries. When seven changes are made to a team it is hard for them to naturally find rhythm against one of the top sides in the country and when people talk about having luck in the cup, there was very little of that handed out to an AFCB side that contested the game well, but ultimately was not a match for an Everton team intent on reaching the quarter-finals.
Cup hopes end at Dean Court.
Where did it go wrong you may ask? Some will say it was as early as the team sheet going in, but the players that did wear red and black were well in the game up to half time and could have even gone in to the break ahead. Eddie Howe has a lot of faith in his squad of players and during the run in he will undoubtedly need many of those who fought hard against Everton in this match, but too many individual battles were won by the Toffees who mastered midfield and found the finishing edge to win through the tie.

Ross Barkley in particular had a fine match for Everton and the tenacious tackling of Seamus Coleman and Gareth Barry were more than enough to limit the Cherries chances in front of goal. To think that Everton were struggling to find any form a few weeks ago! Now they look a decent side and it is the Cherries that need to find some confidence and belief. Well played Everton, you deserved the win.

The downward trend in AFCB's results has to be turned around fast. A few defeats have put a more anxious look on faces around Dean Court and that is not what the team needs to get it moving in the right direction again. Eddie Howe has to get the players upbeat and thinking positively. There is no break from the league now and AFCB have cup finals all the way to mid-May starting at Watford on Saturday. UTCIAD!

  1. Hi. I'm an Everton supporter and think your comments are spot on. Perhaps with a bit more composure in front of goal you may have got a replay but overall I thought we were good value for the win. Just like to wish you all the best for the rest of the season and I hope you stay up as Eddie was a Blue as a kid and your club have been a breath of fresh air this season. :-)
