I was kind of hoping that Junior Stanislas would make the starting 11 against Middlesbrough but it wasn't to be. Junior may have only missed the last two games for AFCB, but he completes the puzzle for the Cherries.
I have no axe to grind against the choice of Josh King or Jordan Ibe on the wings at the moment. Eddie Howe has to select those players who are fittest and are available. He has asked fans to be patient with Jordan Ibe and I'm sure fans will give him time to find his feet in the team. Getting pulled after 60 minutes on every game seems to be Howe's way of thinking and what that feels like to Joran Ibe would be great to know. If Jordan looks at the bigger picture, he is being protected a little.
If Marc Pugh and Junior Stanislas were fit though he might find his place is less secure. It's not that Ibe has not played well, but Pugh tends to score the odd goal and is very attuned to what Charlie Daniels wants from him. Meanwhile, Stanislas finds shooting space and is prepared to take the responsibility of not only beating players, but of making the keeper work. From free kicks Junior has been the man to step up and he has been very unlucky not to add to his goal total when he has done this.
The team often picks itself and yet this season there is quite a change going on. It may not seem that Junior Stanislas is a player that can carry a lot of the weight of expectation for the team, but he has done it in games like the Everton and Hull matches, and by having him on the pitch, it must send signals to his colleagues that we have Junior on the pitch today - I fancy our chances.

It was perhaps a blow that Junior was not able to take to the pitch at the Riverside. Still as Kris Temple said after the game there were enough players with creative class to open up the Middlesbrough side, they just couldn't do it on the day. We'll not know if Stanislas would have done any better or not, but I'll bet that Eddie will be anxiously checking to see if Junior might be okay for the visit of Sunderland.

Junior is hopefully going to be back for the Sunderland game. |
