AFCB still need higher conversion rate

The match against Crystal Palace only saw two goal for Bournemouth but it could have been so many more. What is exciting about Bournemouth's play is that they are just too quick for most teams to cope with and with all the front players getting off the mark this season the goals are starting to flow.
Aké is still hunting goals.
I was also watching the forward runs of Nathan Aké against Crystal Palace that seemed to escalate as the game went on. He had a good header in the first half that trickled wide and in the second-half he could have scored from a glancing header from Josh King's cross that just sped away from him. Whether Nathan feels he has goals in him, or it was just that he had the opportunity to go up more in this home match we'll see at Watford.

Ryan Fraser is still cutting up the pitch and leaving burnt rubber tyre tracks like 'Road Runner' and David Brooks is managing to find more space now, which was certainly evident for his goal against Palace when he had time to pick out the top corner off the crossbar.

Getting a high goal conversion rate probably lies mostly with Callum Wilson. He was unlucky again not to score from a one-on-one late on in the Palace game when Ryan Fraser had done all the donkey work and laid it on a plate for him. But if King and Wilson do start finding the back of the net Bournemouth will be much higher than seventh in the table.

Getting the two strikers scoring has to be a major aim now with the rest of the team already contributing goals. Whether the three central midfielders gives Bournemouth that extra drive as well going forward is something Howe will no doubt consider having seen how well Lerma, Lewis Cook and Gosling worked together. Everywhere you look I can see goals in this team and perhaps we will see one of the central midfielders try and open their account soon.

  1. Right from the very start some very unfortunate circumstances have conspired to prevent Wilson from proving he has what it takes to make a name for himself as a consistant goal getter at this level but It's recently started to look like the Championship level might be his personal limit.

Time now to possibly give Jermaine Defoe a run of a few games too allow him to get in the groove again, and see if he still has what it takes to hit the back of the net. Wilson must be coming to towards the end of his opportunities to prove himself and that cannot carry on indefinitely. Much the same circumstances seem to be arising with King... with Junior now hopefully back in permanent contention... King should be looking to his starting eleven place also.

  2. The first three matches King didn't appear to be involved, That has changed, but when he does get the ball at his feet it's rarely in a position where he can shoot.

Wilson is just the opposite--always seems to be in a position to fire but misses routine shots. A bad streak? Overly anxious? He reminds me of a young DeFoe...active, great opportunities, but a low convervision rate as well. Let's if he can be like DeFoe in one more way...put 15 in the net.

King and Wilson are capable. If it starts to happen, we'll be happily watching the Cherries in Europa next year.
