AFCB's devastating counter-attacks

Bournemouth look more of a complete team now. The Cherries have become a very effective force away from home and it's something they didn't have last season. It's the pace of the team on the counter-attack that is causing so much difficulty for teams to defend against, and with an international break now to work even harder on Bournemouth's cutting edge, we could see more hefty score lines for the Cherries in upcoming games.
Fraser and Brooks are starting to terrorise Premier League defences.
In the first few weeks it has been Ryan Fraser that has caught the eye in Bournemouth's flying attacks, but now it is David Brooks that has been spotted by the Match of the Day cameras as being a free-running goal threat. With both wings operating so well, there is a superb balance to the team and Watford found that Bournemouth would attack with more or less equal measure down either flank. With players such as Junior Stanislas and Jordan Ibe also waiting to get on the pitch, the bench is looking far stronger this season for Eddie Howe.

The running-power of the team has given the Cherries a get out from defence when they are under pressure. With teams trying to play in Bournemouth's half they are finding they can''t over commit players anymore against the threat that runners like King and Fraser offer. The core of the team is also more solid though and when the blocks are coming in Bournemouth look like they can spring attacks at will from the loose ball.

The big leap forward for the team for me though has been the impact of David Brooks who has been calm in his decision-making when on the break. He is able to find King and Wilson when they make runs and he follows up when the counter-attacks are underway. With clever passing and quick movement, Bournemouth are looking a frightening prospect to defend against.

Pitch Publishing competition
The answer to the Pitch Publishing competition to win a copy of Neil Meldrum's Fall and Rise of AFC Bournemouth was - Charlton Athletic's ground - The Valley. Well done to all those who got the answer right. We picked out three winners, who are:
Kevin Bowers, David Blakey and Wayne Bugden.

Thanks to all those who took part. We will have more competitions in the coming days.

In other news, AFCB beat Burnley 7-1 in Premier League Cup. Among the AFCB team were Tyrone Mings, Charlie Daniels, Marc Pugh and Kyle Taylor

  1. Think the reason is the midfield pairing of Cook and Lerma..and Cooks inclusion is not a second too soon....power and pace look like a winning combination....we have clearly strengthened in the close season and this time we are playing the signings..and its encouraging that the icons who got us promoted are gradually being phased out....whilst we are sixth we are only four points off top...beyond ones wildest dreams....lets all dream Champions League and sneek under the radar....hopefully another win against Southampton and then we start to play the top teams...lets see what we can do against the Arsenals and Man City..

  2. I think they are still a bit inconsistent on their counters. Wilson has missed a couple notable chances - like the one against Palace. Saying that they are much improved over previous seasons. Let's hope they can pick up a couple wins before they play United. I like their chances to grab at least a point against United, especially if their counter attacks are quality that day.
