Unfinished business for Callum Wilson at AFCB

Kris Temple of BBC Radio Solent had some interesting comments to make having interviewed Callum Wilson after the Arsenal match. It would have been easy for Callum to say no comment when confronted with a question about his future but he wanted to make it clear that he had "unfinished business at AFCB."

Callum will hopefully keep hitting the back of the net for AFCB.
That tells me that Newcastle Utd and West Ham Utd might be disappointed come the close of the next transfer window. Callum has no doubt looked about or at least his agent and seen what possibilities there are, but a simple look at the Premier League table will tell him that no other club has made as much progress since last season than the Cherries and perhaps WBA and Burnley. He is going out to train pretty much every day with one of the country's leading coaches. He may not be on the biggest salary at the club since last summer's signings but his career has been progressing at AFCB and there is a certain amount of risk about moving to another club.

I also believe that it has played on Callum's mind that he was not able to have the season he wanted in the Premier League last time out, and he is probably having to convince himself that he is as good as he ever was before his cruciate ligament injury. He has said himself to Kris Temple that he has dipped a bit in his form, and while he won't have liked being put on the subs bench, it has given him time to think about where he is at and to perhaps get his appetite back and his focus.

Goalscorers are fragile creatures that usually need to feel they are number one on that team sheet. They have to reconcile the fact that no one can be at their peak for a whole season and the manager will do what is best for the team in those situations. I can only see Callum getting stronger and getting better when he understands better when his body needs a rest and when he can kick on. I still feel he will get an England call up and it would be great for him and Eddie Howe if he could achieve that when he is playing for AFCB.
