Boruc has to come back in

Even Eddie Howe can't keep backing Asmir Begovic after his list of errors against Burnley. Begovic is now top of the list for goalkeeping errors that lead to goals in the Premier League, and it is hard to see how the manager can hope that he just plays himself into form in goal, while he has another keeper that hasn't been given as much of a go this season who he rates equally as well.
Begovic has failed to impress in the two games he has returned to the number one spot.
Bournemouth have not found it easy to recruit the best keepers and it does get me annoyed when goalkeepers are not considered the most important players in many respects. They are only just starting to be valued as much as some of the outfield players, but they have to be as good with the ball at their feet as they are with their hands. But the mistakes Begovic were to misjudge the flight of a high cross, which really came from his starting position and his inability to find the room to correct his feet in time to get under the ball.

The last goal Burnley scored also saw Begovic fail to get hold of the ball at Chris Woods' feet when he was perhaps favourite to dive on top of the ball, before the forward could pull back a pass to Ashley Barnes. Keepers have to be brave to go in where players feet are and while Begovic did try and get to the ball he had to make it to stop Burnley having any chance for scoring.

What does Howe do now? If he doesn't pick Boruc what message does that send to Artur? If AFCB get over 40-points in the next coupe of games I'd actually like to see Mark Travers given the last game against Palace just for the experience. It may be that even Howe will think this summer that Borus and Begovic need replacing.

  1. I would give Travers a debut this weekend....Ramsdale is doing well at Wimbledon..is it time for the manager to give youth a chance...
