Bournemouth can't believe that they are fully safe yet, but the fight has certainly gone out of the side. If the payers think they can coast towards the end of the season, they have a reality check coming. AFCB have five games to limit the damage of recent performances and Eddie Howe will want to see a big change in their desire to get points from these last few games.
The real disappointment is that Burnley wanted it more. It has been a long time since I've seen AFCB look so flat and out of ideas, but the Cherries were second in just about every aspect to Burnley on the day. Bournemouth didn't manage to impose their game on Burnley and that was particularly disappointing when AFCB went a goal ahead, and in the second half there was no big effort to try and wrestle the game back in AFCB's favour.
Bournemouth let their heads drop and they didn't find a way to cope with Barnes and Woods who worked AFCB's centre-halves and the power they had to control the game. It was as poor a performance as we have sen under Howe's leadership and we need to find some answers now to stop this despondent way of playing.
AFCB couldn't manage a fightback against Burnley. |
Fans can look at the team and say that the old regulars are no longer in the team. The fighters are absent if you, like with Harry Arter on loan, Andrw Surman, Steve Cook, Daniels, Lewis Cook and Simon Francis out of contention. Bournemouth need to find more leaders on the pitch and we saw that with Nathan Aké being given the armband towards the end of the second half when Gosling was subbed.

Interesting broadcast about Bournemouth on Talk Sport..the view amongst others that Bournemouth has gone as far as they can...and players are having their heads turned with transfer talk and its inevitable that some bids will come in during the summer...I would not be against a reshuffle..with two or three large sales which could generate £100m ..which can be reinvested..all the old guard should be greatly thanked and honoured but time to move on....what has to happen next season is to cut the goals against against column..by 20 goals...that means a new goalkeeper..or promotion for Travers and Ramsdale..there is a full back at Norwich who has had rave reviews....I would sell Fraser/King and Ake....Arter...I would keep Mings who has never had a proper run in the team and is getting rave reviews at Aston Villa..a choice of Mepham/Mings/Cook/Simpson..would be an interesting quartet...Clyne and Smith as full backs...strengthen the midfield...talk abourtMason Mount..and for goodness sake give Mousset an extended chance...we clearly need a squad ..but lets give some players a chnace..Mahoney and Surridge amd lets take the FA Cup seriously and not treat it as an opportunity to give the reserves a chnace
ReplyDeleteFa cup has never been about reserves
ReplyDeleteEddie uses it to show his loyalty to the old guard. And when getting a drubbing (several this year) why not sub out giving the young guys a taste
