Bournemouth need to get out of their rut

The results may not reflect the performances, but Bournemouth are on a fast-track down the table at the moment and the results have got to change. The injuries have in part played a part in moving players around, and Eddie Howe not being able to field his strongest side, but it is a squad game and the lack of cover in depth is being exposed.

For outsiders, it may seem like Bournemouth fans have nothing to fret about. The Cherries were probably over achieving in their fist few weeks of the season. But having seen how the team can play, it is all the more galling to see them struggle like this. It reminds me of the first season AFCB had in the Premier League when they were hit with so many injuries in quick succession. Bournemouth had to dig deep then and they are going to have to do the same now.

The mental strength of the team is what is probably feeling the strain the most. Against Wolves, Bournemouth certainly tried to attack the game and did their best to put Wolves under pressure. The fact that few of the attacking moves paid off though will have the players pondering what they might have done better. They didn't have that killer instinct and while Wolves defended well, AFCB carve chances out when they are on top of their game against even the best in this league.

Eddie Howe is sure that the team just need a performance and a win. I tend to agree with him. The team is not playing without some positives and the players have to fight for their team-mates who are now receiving treatment and try and win points for them. They have to turn the negative into a positive and united effort to turn things around. If they really want the points, they can get them. But they can't dwell on disappointing results. They have to think of what a good win will do to morale.

  1. A defensive reshuffle is needed and time to give our new spanish signing a run in the team...plus simpson and mings and give them half a dozen games...and maybe to give a run to taylor...and see what he is about...and even ramsdale
