Charlie Daniels responds to Smith's pressure

AFCB fans have been waiting for Charlie Daniels to really hit top form and he did against Blackpool. Charlie will have known that he needed a good performance after Adam Smith's brilliant  run out in the Liverpool match. It is very noticeable though when Charlie is feeling confident as he gambles more often than not on Marc Pugh threading a pass through to him and when it comes off I don't think there are many better combinations on the left flank in this league.
Charlie Daniels is showing just why he is first choice at left back.
John Williams described Daniels and Pugh as, "a team within a team". I kind of get where he is coming from because they are sensational when they click as a double act and it is hard to know from the fans side how Adam Smith can get into the side. When Pugh and Daniels are on form though they are a dynamic partnership and AFCB need that creativity to balance the galloping runs of Simon Francis on the right side.

Out flanking sides is always a pleasure to see but not so easy to deliver, as run after run up the wing is only part of the package when the ball in has also to be a good delivery. The amount of runs that Daniels made in the Blackpool match indicates to me that he has got back to his best and that is in large part to the excellent play of Adam Smith who has pushed him to that level. While individuals are easy to highlight, it is the team ethic and work rate behind this squad that are helping to make individual performances stand out on match day.

Smith, Gosling, O'Kane, MacDonald, Stanislas, Harte and Cargill are just some of those players that are driving the whole team forward to be even better.
