Jordan Ibe still has much to prove

Social media was a buzz with opinions about Jordan Ibe after the defeat to Newcastle United. While Jordan started on the wing, he did have to move to wing-back and defensively there was a lot to like about the way he tracked back. However, his primary function at AFCB has been to create and finish moves and on his latest showing he is still far from the finished article.
Jordan Ibe just hasn't improved.
Getting into scoring positions is not a problem for him, but perhaps he doesn't fid himself in that situation often enough. When he did find Gosling put him in with a goalscoring chance in the second half against Newcastle, it was a moment of calm and  concentration that Ibe needed. The way he hurried his shot though was always likely to have a disappointing end.

I don't blame Jordan for the defeat against Newcastle United. He didn't have a great game, but the team as a whole didn't play well. Jordan has parts of his game to improve and his shooting is not at the standard of Fraser, Brooks or Stanislas. Perhaps Eddie Howe feels that by playing games Ibe would get his performances up, sadly that has not happened.

I'm not sure how many more chances Ibe will be given. His manager has a lot of faith in him that he can come good, but the fans are not likely to be as patient. While Eddie often is defiant and will choose who he wants to play, the hard work and honesty of Marc Pugh may be a more popular choice to play if Stanislas or King is not available for Arsenal.

Still, I expect King or Stanislas will return and Ibe is likely to come out of the starting 11 for the Arsenal game. It is a disappointment that Ibe has not grabbed his chance. I hoped that his game would have matured by now.

In other news, Jack Simpson sign a contract extension to summer 2021.
