MacDonald call up is a welcome surprise

As you probably know, Shaun MacDonald did not play during the Millwall game at the weekend so it is a bit of a surprise to hear that Chris Coleman has called him up to the full Welsh squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium. I suppose Macca will be assessed when he is with the Welsh team but it is clear that AFCB always encourage their players to play international football when they have the opportunity so we should be pleased for him.

Shaun MacDonald hopes to win his second Welsh cap.
Shaun has been a big part of the Cherries successful start to their Championship season even if he has not scored. He has been one of those who has carried the fight to the opposition with some battling performances and it has been mainly down to him that when Harry Arter was out the Cherries were not missing him as much as they might.

Like most of us I would have thought that Jack Collison would be the most likely to be facing Macedonia and Belgium for Wales but he must have picked up a knock in the Millwall game as he has withdrawn from the squad. If he is that badly injured it is possible that he could go back to West Ham for treatment so we'll see if there is any news on that.

As for Macca I would like to see him do well for Wales. There is no doubting he has the talent to play at international level and winning another cap will surely give him a boost. We wish him well on Friday at the Millenium stadium and then next week in Belgium. Fingers crossed he gets a start or an appearance.
