I woke up this morning to see AFC Bournemouth Goldsands stadium being shown in glorious sunshine as the BBC's camera's panned around the ground, before cutting away to shots from yesterday and the new training ground where England's ladies team were preparing for their game today against Belarus in a World Cup qualifier.
With big names like Rachel Yankey and Kelly Smith walking around Dean Court it is yet another reminder of how far AFC Bournemouth has come to be able to host such a prestigious game. The England team did not perform well in the European championship but playing at a stadium like ours may give them a new belief and confidence to do well.
Brent Hills is the caretaker manager after the sacking of Hope Powell and the next couple of games are really an apprenticeship for him as he has stated that he would like the role full time.
For those not making the long trip to Middlesbrough today, the international at Dean Court can't be a bad way to start the weekend if you are staying in Bournemouth. You might even get a few famous signatures. The Official AFCB site has ticket prices.
This is a fan’s personal view of AFC Bournemouth from the outside looking in. It reports on the daily official activities reported by the club and comments made by individual fans on social media and fanbase websites. Life as an AFCB fan is never dull. As a life-long supporter of the Cherries, it is the friendliness of the staff, fans and my enthusiasm for the club that inspired me to write this blog.
